Our school district hosted a "Technology Showcase" tonight where each teacher was to collaborate with their grade level and put together a presentation highlighting their students technology skills. Well as our students had all done some fabulous work we went to finalize our project today and the computers didn't work! No Power Point, no Movie Maker, no Photo Story, and the internet was creeping at a snails pace! Even our phone system went down for awhile!
So I decided to put together an Animoto project highlighting some of our Fifth Grade "Learning and Technology Expeditions" and even Animoto didn't want to cooperate. Eventually after assigning my students various tasks I was able to create a new Animoto educators account and publish our highlights. Remix is fun, it served education well today! My students were thoroughly engaged and enjoyed helping put this together!
That was amazing!! I know of Animoto, but have never used it before, I believe you just convince me to try it out tomorrow! Your students must have been so proud of this highlight mix. The song was perfect and the launching rocket clip towards the end was so cool! It looks very professional and is quite engaging. I love making pic collage movies for my daughter, but have always used iMovie. Can Animotos be downloaded as a file or burnt to a DVD? You were very resourceful considering your tech issues, you certainly turned lemons into lemonade that night!!
ReplyDeleteI tried Animoto today, what fun! I was able to answer a few of my own questions, concerning the downloading and burning. I really hate that for the free version you only get to create 30 sec products. You mentioned that you set up an educator account for your "Technology Showcase" presentation. Does it have more capabilities? How can I get a designated "educator account". Is there a link somewhere, I didn't see an option for it when I signed up?
DeleteGreat job Mary!! Way to tie in the debate issue.
